You know what really grinds my gears in 2022? Logging into apps.

Not just the tedious act of opening an app and entering my credentials–which is honestly pretty streamlined these days, at least for modern web apps.

I just hate that it’s so often needless. Gratuitous. An uncalled for diversion from my erstwhile efficient efforts to get things done.

Why Are We Still Logging into Apps for Simple Things?

How often do you find yourself working briskly through the unread layers of your inbox when you land on a notification from some app that takes you out of a state of zen-like focus and into a morass of distraction?

So-and-so sent you a message. Login to view or respond.

What?

JUST GIVE ME THE MESSAGE IN THE DAMN EMAIL! LET ME VIEW AND RESPOND HERE!!.

To all the social apps and SaaS products that use this tactic to juice their DAU numbers, I offer my resentment.

Solution: Reply by Email to Any Message in Any Channel

For users of our app, Switchbird, I offer a solution: Now you can respond to any message that lands in your Switchbird inbox–regardless of channel–simply by replying to it in email.

Our email notifications include your received message in full (unless your inbox is in HIPAA mode) and your reply is routed back through SMS or Google Business Messages or Facebook Messenger, etc. to whomever sent it in whichever channel they sent it in.

That means that even if your business can’t cope with YADA (“yet another damn app”) or new customer messaging channels like Google Business Messages, not to worry: You can get all the benefits of being available to customers everywhere without ever leaving your email inbox 😎

Today, Switchbird users can respond to any message in any channel simply by replying to it in email.

Our email notifications include your received message in full (unless your inbox is in HIPAA mode) and your reply is routed back through SMS–or Google Business Messages, Facebook Messenger, etc–to whomever sent it in whichever channel they sent it in.

It’s all part of our vision to help businesses capitalize on the huge opportunity in messaging with minimal investment and overhead 👍
